Love Is Powerful
What if I told you that loving the people around you well could be the most powerful, surprising, and life-transforming secret you can have?
It’s funny how we try to find satisfaction through our jobs, successes, traveling, food, or just things. We strive, we seek, we gain only to find emptiness. What are you seeking? Is it connection, feeling needed, honored, worthy, and/or loved?
Part of my life, I regret how I sought ‘fulfillment’ by focusing on my needs. I often didn’t think of others or the consequences of being selfish. That is one thing I wish I could tell my younger self - “Love others as you would want to be treated and if what you want will hurt them. Don’t do it!!!!” These can be hard lessons, but we can learn and grow from our mistakes in life.
My focus these days is, ‘What will your future self thank you for?’ It’s a great question you can ask yourself. My challenge is to love well. Love others as you would want to be loved. Invest in others, and they will invest in you. Leave a legacy through your love. You can’t take things with you when you pass from this life, but you can leave an impression on those around you through love.
There are so many things love will do: forgive, listen, be present, use words of affirmation, uplift, encourage, sympathize, hug, pray, give, serve, and walk beside others. How will you love well today?
